Outside a dog, books are man's best friend. Inside a dog, it's too dark to read.

2011-2012 Welcome to a New Year!

November 2nd, 2011 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

(This post is a little late, but I have had a problem updating my page! Sorry!)

Welcome to a new year at Litchfield Middle School! This year we have a new principal, a new assistant principal, two new teachers, and plenty of new students! Welcome to our Litchfield family!

Reading has gotten off to a great start! Alicia Edgeworth has already reserved a seat on the bus headed to Lake Winnie! She was our top reader for the first nine weeks. Ashley Lawce was our 2nd place reader. Both girls received new books and candy for their efforts! I would like to take a bus full of Eagles to Lake Winnie.

We are preparing for the NE Alabama Technology Fair, held at Jacksonville State University. Hopefully, we will bring home medals.

It’s About Time….

August 2nd, 2010 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

Hopefully, you had a great summer! It is almost time for us to return to dear old LMS. It seems like we just got out for summer a few days ago. The old saying, “Time flies when you are having fun” is true. It is Monday, and you have one more week. I only have 3 days! The teachers all have meetings Thursday and Friday.

Get your school supplies together and please pay all your fees on the very first week! Then you won’t be lagging behind, not being able to sew, do science experiments, or participate in activities.  You want to start out AHEAD of the game! The school store will NOT be open for you to snag those pencils. Bring them with you!  If you lost a library book last year and did not pay for it, please bring your $10 and take care of that as well.

I am excited to begin a new year! I met some of our incoming 6th graders at Summer Enrichment. Plan now to have a great year! Let’s go, Eagles!!

Summer Enrichment

I am having so much fun at LMS this summer! I am teaching technology to our incoming 6th graders! We have learned how to use Microsoft Word and Powerpoint. We talked about cyberbullying and Internet safety. Exploring new websites has probably been the favorite thing we have done though. Next week we are going to be publishing some interesting things, so stay tuned!!!

Lake Winnie!!!

April 20th, 2010 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

It is almost time for our trip to Lake Winnepasaukah! You will need to make sure you have earned your 75+ points by May 5th at 2:45. All books must be turned in to the  library by Friday May 7th, so that we can begin inventory!

Please pay for lost books and pay your fines before the last week of school. Don’t let fines keep you from getting your report card or other records!

Testing is Over….Is it???

You can do that! And then Wednesday is the Science Exam. Look at it this way….THAT truly is the last of testing!!! Whew!
I will be posting some pictures from previous events….stay tuned!

Spring Time!

March 8th, 2010 by · No Comments · Uncategorized

I don’t know about you, but I am ready for spring. I love that time of year when everything seems to renew itself. The grass gets green, the trees put on coats of new leaves, and flowers spring forth! Wow! The wonder of nature!
I hope that you will renew yourself this spring as well. Decide today to do your best EVERY day. Read a new type of book. Get serious about raising your intelligence level! You are all deserving of a college experience.
And before I forget……NEW BOOKS!!!! I just ordered a truckload of new books! These are ones that YOU requested from your visits to the GPL! There are new Bluford High books, new Sharon Draper books, new Mary Higgins Clark…and so many more!!!! I can’t wait for them to arrive! Mrs. Sullivan, the student aides, and I will work hard to get them out asap!
Remember reading builds vocabulary and vocabulary makes a world of difference in your intelligence.
